  1. I have been using a master built electric smoker and have been extremely disappointed with the temp control. Foods that should be taking 10-12 hours are getting done in 8-9. I have even gotten a new thermostat from the manufacturer Now I am in the market for the best smoker I can get. Whether electric gas or coal. I have been told to get a green egg. What do you think? I don't mind spending the money but I want something good Thanks for your help. I have been getting you recipes for a while now and really enjoy them and your rub is outstanding. Thanks again Rick

If it's taking 2 to 3 hours less time than it should, your temp has to be wrong. Only a digital wireless like Maverick ET-732 can be easily checked for accuracy. I've been ignoring what my MES smoker says the temp is for over 4 years now.

On another note, My Son loves his Big Green Egg !!!

If you like the MES's other features (besides the heating problem).... The heating can be fixed for under a hundred bucks with a PID system .....

Big Green Egg is $$$ and heavy as sin!

I would save some $$, get a 22.5" WSM (Weber Smokey Mountain), then use all the $$ you saved and fill a freezer with meat!
  5. Thanks , I will look into the weber

  7. Chargriller Akorn Kamado ,one third the price of the egg .No where near as heavy and cooks every bit as good as any ceramic Kamado out there . Oh yeah, uses very little charcoal.
