I have been working on a couple old fridges and wanted to share some photos with the forum. My buddies is complete and mine is 75% complete.

It has been a lot of work and thinking but I think they have came together well!

Hope to finish mine (Purple Haze) this weekend and then finish up my gravity fed (Vodoo Child)! First competition this year is Hog Happenin in Lincolton, NC!

Thanks Danny.

I will try and post more pictures over the weekend. Hope to have it finished up by Sunday!
We are doing a BBQ lunch for a local underprivileged kids organization arpril 17th. This thing better be cooking quickly!
Hope you guys have a great weekend!

Got a lot completed yesterday!!!!!!

Need to fabricate some diffusion plate stand offs, insulate and cover the door, and give it a good cleaning! I'm cooking next weekend, I can promise that!

Food Porn to Come!

Had to make the inner and outer cuts for the hopper assembly.

The hopper unit is made to be mounted from the inside but with the inner cooking chamber it was not logical. I drilled out the inserts and installed new inserts from the outer skin. Now I can bolt from the outside and also disassemble if something goes bad.

Unit is bolted from the outside.

All mounted and complete.

Next came the exhaust. I used 4" pellet exhaust that's available through Mcmaster Carr. Worked well but had to drill and pin the elbow from rotating. It will also be high temp black when I touch up the paint.

Needs some cleaning and some paint touch ups but this is the newest smoker in the family!

The gravity fed smoker is in the works now and hope to have it done in a few weeks!

Hopefully the photos will inspire or be helpful to someone wanting to do the same. I have learned a lot with this assembly and will answer any questions that I can.

I also want to thank Smoke Daddy for the nice pellet hopper assembly. The unit is top notch and the service was great. Had my order in just a few days.

Nice. Very happy with my smoke daddy pellet pooper in my fridge conversion. Heats up a 4'x6'x3' deep area with no problem.

Well I finally got it finished up Thursday, burned it out and checked everything Friday evening, and then cooked on it Saturday morning. We did 3 butts, 2 racks of ribs - testing a new recipe, 2 chuckies, and 14 pounds of chicken.

The smoker cooked great. It holds temps great and recovers quickly when you open the door. It almost felt like cheating going from my stick burner to this. I was please with the food but also want to explore more pellet options. I have also made a secondary smoke box that I will use the next time around.

This was how the door and the inside turned out. Very pleased with the outcome!

Now time for the business side of things!

Made myself a neat injection pump with a few McMaster Carr parts!

Sorry for the picture quality as I was more focused on cooking than anything, Thanks for viewing and hope to post more food porn soon!

Thanks George.

It was an 1/8" necked down to a 1/16" tube. I wanted something smaller but that was all I could find at the shop. It worked well but I need to weld the holes and re shoot the holes to close up the spacing some.

Purple Haze finally got a work out. Entered the KCBS Amateur Division a couple of weeks ago and got,

1st place Brisket

1st Place Pork

3rd Place Chicken

Overall Amateur Grand Champion

Very pleased with the smoker and the results! This was only my 2nd competition and my 1st doing KCBS with all 4 categories. Now its time to decide on another................

Great Job !!!
