Pastrami from scratch on the Smokin It #3

Got a couple of Prime packers today...:yahoo:

Stopped at Costco and headed my own advice from last year (this thread - http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/140471/pastrami-from-scratch-on-the-smokin-it-3) ...get bigger briskets.

Got 2 14 pounders:

$3.89/ pound for Prime:

The other choice was choice for $6.39/ pound??!!

What gives??!! So for $10 more I get twice as much and prime to boot...

Not sure of the prices too recently, but at least in May 2015, the primes were at least less then $3/ pound over the choices...in St. Louis park MN.

As I said we're making a Costco run next week. I'll check the brisket prices. If Prime is still cheaper I'm buying it. Since Costco briskets come with the point I'll get another shot at burnt ends.

2.30/ pound less for prime in Eden prairie mn

Dert, in Gig Harbor, WA, the Costco price for USDA Choice brisket is $5.29/lb. What's ironic is at that store USDA Prime Brisket appears to be the one grade of beef it doesn't sell. It stocks prime in ribeye, top loin (NY steak), tenderloin, and I think one other in beef roasts and steaks.
