Well I noticed after my smoke last weekend that some paint had bubbled and flaked off the shell on the inside of my ECB. Looking closer at it I started to pick at it (during the clean up process) and I was tearing with ease a good portion of crackled paint inside of my electric ECB. I do keep this thing well oiled and maintained and I noticed during the smoke, that the smoke was mainly coming out where the paint was flaking away. Am I screwed or what should I do to fix this? I was thinking of taking a wire brush and scrape away some more of the paint and then put a good coat of oil on it. Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ve only had this unit for 9 months and have done a dozen smokes. Any suggestions?

I would like to have this last for a few more months and then planning on upgrading this summer to a propane smoker.

Thanks.

Are you sure its paint? I'm new to smokers but on my 13 year old Weber gas grill a black residue was building up. I called Weber about it and they said what you see flaking off is fat from repeated cooking that has hardened on the inside of the grill.

Thanks for the help. I'm pretty sure it is paint because the inside of the shell is red and when the paint bubbled off I see the gray bare metal.
