I just ordered the Northern #12 grinder, and I can't seem to find out exactly what size the plates are. They just just list them as coarse, medium and fine. I'm guessing they are something like 1/4" , 5/16", and 3/8" ?

If anybody knows for sure what size they are....I'd appreciate it!

I'm planning a trip to the Sausage Source very soon, and they have plates for #12 grinders. I'd like to get a 1/2" plate for the Northern grinder. But, it almost looks like the Northern coarse plate might be a 1/2" when you zoom in on the photo.

Normally, I would just wait until the grinder arrived....but I'd like to get some supplies in advance so I can make some sausage when the grinder gets here.

Thanks for any help!

The one I brought about 6 yrs. ago came with 3/8, 1/4, 1/8 and the one you put in for stuffing. The 1/8 is only for regrinding as muscle meat will not go thru it unless you really force it. I brought a 1/2 in. to do regular ground with. Actually i think they are in metric but still very close to above in english. Thks Piker

Thanks Piker.

I see that ButherPacker.com has 1/2" and 3/4" plates for the #12 grinder. The 3/4" would be great for doing chili and what not. Would save me alot of time that I usually spend hand cutting chuck roasts into 3/4" cubes.

Just thought I'd post an update on this. I got my grinder today, and the plate sizes are:

Fine - 3/16"
Med - 21\64" (a bit larger than 5/16)
Coarse - 3\8"

I did get the 3/4" from Butcher & Packer too.
