Listen they put cole slaw on hotdogs and its not bad!
Moved here 25 yrs ago and went to a Roses store in durham NC. bought a hot dog and asked for some kraut and they didnt have any.......... So I said let me have one all the way.......... and it was loaded with mustard, chili and onions and a big heap of cole slaw on top......I was floored... never heard of slaw on a hot dog...... With all the influx of northerners in nc, kraut and chili are now the main toppings. You ask for slaw on the hot dog and they ususally dont carry it anymore......

I recognize I am a Canadian and have no genetic basis to talk about NC barbecue. However, I read about coleslaw on pulled pork years ago, tried it, loved it and have done it ever since.

With Patrick's ideas about Asian influence in his barbecue, I am going to try pulled pork with a sweet asian hoisin based sauce and slaw!

Go slaw and thanks for the idea Patrick!

I'll never forget the first time I was asked if I wanted cole slaw I said, "Sure."  Little did I know that it came ON the sandwich....not on the side!!!
Actually I posted a Poll on here one time. I asked what do you do with your cole slaw  and your pulled pork.

1. Put in on the pork

2. Put it on the side

3. I don't even want it on my plate !!

I told everyone if the slaw on the pork won, I would try it.

I lost.  Thank God my neighbor makes a nice vinegar slaw, not the runny stuff my mom use to make. I had to admit, it was not half bad.
