Hi All.. I originally registered here about a year ago.. With fishing, hunting, woodworking, being a Dad and Husband taking up some or all of my time. This week I finally said enough and started on my home made smoker.
I'm going to be asking some simple questions as I have them, but as with all forums. I believe is saying Hi before saying Why..

42.. and I love eating quality food, which means I usually have to smoke it myselft.
After 20 years of working a little Chief smoker to death.. and never having enough grill space, I'm opting to step up.
This smoker is going to have 3 compartments. Left for coal for those long smokes.. center for storage of tools and accessories.. and the right is going to be propane for controlled heat over the long run..
Overall this box is going to be 4ft h x30" deep and 4ft wide.. so each area is about 20 inches at the doors..
So far.. have the burner. (40K BTU) from a water heater.. Getting some black pipe for the tubing and hooking in a thermostat control from a furnace and a upper and lower limit switch.
There's going to be three brackets at the bottom for the heat plate which the chips will be on, a water plate. Third of for an optional deflector for any drippings when doing faty cuts..
Pic's will follow..
FIrst off..
