Hello Folks,

My name is Raymond aka Maple Man. I am from Southwest Nova Scotia, Canada. I am happily married and have a 22 year old son, with a 3 year old son of his own, our only beautiful grandchild for now. And we have a 17 year daughter. I like to hunt and fish and just being in the outdoors as much as I can because I have a very bad back. I just recently had a spinal epidural injection to help relieve the chronic pain. Unfortunately I cannot lift as much as I could before so I cannot return to my job. I haven't been able to drive for over two years because I am having blackouts. Last August I was hospitalized with a mini stroke. It affected my vision my memory and some weakness on the right side. My balance is terrible also. But it could be worse. There is always someone else that is worse off than the next person. I smoked a couple of trout on my regular BBQ last year and I am hooked. I am just beginning to gather information on how to build a BBQ/Smoker with a 250 gallon oil tank, a wood stove, some angle iron and a tent trailer frame that I already have. And will gather up the other pieces as I go. I have a friend, who is more like a Dad to me since my Dad passed on, he has an arc wielder that he will donate his time and wielder, which I am so pleased to have his help. This is not going to be used for competitions but to help make some extra income for the household and to feed my family and friends and whoever in the community wants to come can come. So all your thoughts and plans or help of any kind will be very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Raymond

Hey Folks,

I have not had an easy go with health issues but I still have a spirit and I keep pushing forward every day. Just not as fast and easy as it used to be. I am glad to be a member of this forum and am a green horn and will be looking tho build an upright reverse flow BBQ/Smoker with a 250 gallon oil tank. I will have to do some searching on this forum and asking questions on how to do this correctly I know for sure. I look forward to chatting with you all in the near future. And meeting more people on this forum and becoming friends.

Thank you,

Maple Man

Hey Folks,

I am hooked and this is a good site. I made a post called " Help with calculations", because I couldn't figure out the numbers with the calculator and some folks made sure they have me started well on my way. After a mini stroke last August, I have trouble figuring things out sometimes. It's frustrating and eventually I have to ask for help. I appreciate the help and all your kind words. I must just keep pushing myself because sitting around is just allowing myself to waste. I am looking forward to finishing my RF BBQ/Smoker but will keep you all informed with photos as I build it. Sometimes it takes me a little longer than some people but I get it done.

Thank you,

Maple Man (Raymond)
