Maui, Hi.
Aloha All I'm new here and need your help. I am planning to purchase a meat thermometer. Can you tell me the basic difference between the Maverick T-7 and Maverick T-73? Are these used with the probes inserted in the meat while in the smoker? Do both transmit the readings through a wireless system? Thanks !

Get the Maverick ET-73... it is a dual probe; one for the smoker temp and one for the meat temp. Several of us have them and love them!

If I recall correctly the Et-7 has two probes for meat while the ET-73 has one for the temp of the smoker and one for the meat although it is dual probe as well. A lot of therms that come installed are inaccurate so it is good idea to have one monitoring the smoker temp although you could just get a decent one that sits on the rack.

I think a lot of people have both although the more popular and easier to find one is the ET73. I have one and love it. You can never have too many good thermometers. Make sure that whatever you purchase, you calibrate it in either boiling water or a glass with water and ice to see if it is accurate.
