Newbie/First Smoke

Hello All!!!

Been watching the forum for a while now researching smokers and now prepping for the first smoke.  I'm from the middle of the US---JAYHAWKS/ROYALS/CHIEFS COUNTRY!! I have a MES 40" that my wife bought me for Christmas this year.  I'm starting slow-going with some baked/smoked potatoes.  I'm prepping a pork butt tonight for tomorrow.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new smoker! Pork butt is perfect for a first smoke. Use the search bar to find "Bears step by steps ". Lots of great info to smoke about anything. Bear really knows his stuff and uses the same smoker you have. Happy smokin', David.

The most important thing about smoking is to relax and have fun with it. Follow Bears steps and you'll do great.

Hi WolfHunter, I'm here in KC so go Chiefs. I also got the same smoker for Christmas and did a pork butt for my first smoke. Turned out awesome. Good luck to you
