hi everyone,

the title says it all - i am a newbie with a masterbuilt ss electric smoker who would like to make a brisket and was hoping someone would be able to recommend a recipe that will work well in an electric smoker.

I recently did my first smoke using Smoke & Spice's Alabama smoked chicken sandwich recipe. It turned out pretty good for a newbie, but left room for substantial improvement.

any other tips/ nice comments are appreciated.

thank you in advance for any help

KC style smokey rub

A black bark is largely do to the type of rub your using, also the mustard plays a role here, every time ive used mustard it came out really black,
then the rubs non sugar based & and sugar based, nonsugar rubs will turn dark to black but it helps to seals in the juces and youll get that smoke ring inside.
sugar based rubs will melt and carmalize like a shell around the meat and gives it a reddish color finish and really lockes in the juices, but you wont get a smoke ring,
this one for example
Kansas city sweet and smoky rub
this one for example

2/3 brown sugar
2/3 cup white sugar
1/2 cup paprika
1/4 cup seasoned salt
1/4 cup smoked salt
1/4 cup onion salt
1/4 cup celery salt
2 tble black pepper
2 tbls chili powder
2 tble mustard powder
1 tsp poultry seasoning
1 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
