New To Smoking

  1. I just bought a Chargriller Kamado Kooker. I have read Jeffs Email Course on Smoking. I just tried my first ribs and I could not get the temp down and kept burning ribs. I finally took the meat off and let the fire start to finally run down. Then I put them back on. I sure have to learn how to regulate the heat baffles. Maybe I used too much lump charcoal. Also may need the smoking stone and add a water pan.

welcome     smoking meat is addictive     hang in there      once you hit it dead on  you will be wondering what was i wasting my time on before       this beautiful process of smoking meat  happened       a few bites of your perfect ribs  and you will understand why so many           seek this euphoric  satisfaction          learning your smokers quirks  is  a matter of practice        one thing i have used to find hot and not so hot areas on my smoker  was to use prepacked biscuits      for a few bucks you can place the biscuits at different spots and smoke them   for  15 to 20 minutes and see the hot spots     you may even eat a few

Hello new to smoking and I just brought a offset smoker. I was wondering do you add charcoal to the grill area as well in the fire box? I am unable to keep the temp just using the small firebox. I would really like to be able to do some serious smoking
  8. Hello DM and welcome to SMF! Glad you found us.

I'm not familiar with your smoker, hopefully someone will come along that is and if not, you can always use the handy search tool at the top of the page to help find out your answer.

Studioq, that's a great tip with the biscuits!
