Have been lurking for a while, researching smokers. I have come upon a brand new, free Brinkmann Vertical Smoker #810-5500-0. I was looking at purchasing the WSM or the ProQ Elite 20 smoker but free is better than $250-$300.

Anyway, I've posted some questions about the free Brinkmann that I will be getting in another thread. I hope that it isn't too much trouble to keep the temps up on it. But for the price, it's worth a try!

Looking forward to the information on the board.

Welcome to SMF glad you decided to join us.

Welcoem to the SMF! There's absolutely nothing wrong with the Brinkmann! If there were, there'd be enough of us here who would have let them know by now!

Thanks for the replies. Here is a link to the smoker I am inheriting:

Like I said, it is brand new, never been used. I'm excited to get it picked up and broken in. I am just wondering if there are any mod's that I should make to it to make it as user friendly as possible for a beginner.

Well, I went right past the free smoker, and just purchased a 18.5'' WSM for $239 shipping and tax included. I knew this was the smoker I wanted for a while, and I figured I'd end up buying it soon after smoking in the free smoker anyway. I can still take the free smoker, and I may do that. Never have too many, right?

No such thing as too many smokers congrats on ordering the WSM
