So I have been overwhelmed by the Q-views. I don't have a smoker and I have reached the breaking point. I am looking for a little unit to start me off right. I want a gas unit so I won't have to tend to it quite so much. I will upgrade to a wood unit later but right now I have a young baby that makes it hard to tend the ribs.

here is what I am thinking about. I like the size, price, BTUs and the stainless steel:

anyone familiar with this one? any others people would reccomend at about this price? I am really interested in hearing from people who have used this one or the one they reccomend instead.

thanks all

Lownslow, I haven't used the model you listed, but it looks similar to the GOSM, which I have used. The GOSM is a decent cooker, although I haven't seen one in stainless. It is available usually in stock at Walmart for less than half that price. I'm sure more will chime in soon with more info for you.

thanks for the feedback. My local walmart doesn't have any smokers but I see amazon does. I should compare capacity and prices.

If you have a local Sportsman's Warehouse, you might go there and take a look at the Camp Chef Smoke Vault 24. For $40 more, it is 24 inches wide and solidly built. It will give you much more capacity.

I'm in a small town where no one sells smokers. I would love to see them first-hand and get a feel for the quality but unfortunately I will have to order one without seeing it. I will check out the specs on the smoke vault. Have you used the vault?

I use the Smoke Vault exclusively. My ECB has been relegated to the storage shed. If you go to the Camp Chef website, you can get a closeup of the Vault. Shawnr5 is right, there is a ton of room in it.

LowNSlow...I have the larger version of that exact smoker. I bought mine at Cabella's. Mine measures 16x16x48 and has six racks instead of four. The bottom rack is used to hold your water pan, so this would leave you with three racks to put your meat on. I reckon you would have to decide how much meat you plan on smoking. If it's just for the family, you could probably get by with only 3 racks. If you plan on having guests over and want to smoke a few different things at once, you would be better off with the taller smoker.Cabela's Stainless Vertical Propane Smokers

The 48" has two door latches instead of only one. They don't have a picture of the 48" on their site.

I like mine a lot and have done some good smokes on it.

Hope this helps

Steve
