Hello to y'all

I'm new to the smoking game. So new I've never done it but I'm eager to try. I have an old smoker, inherited from my parents. As far as I remember it's only been used twice. It's an upright about 3 ft. tall. I not sure how to use it, so if anyone can throw me some tips, it would be helpful.

I'm from northeast Indiana. We're not known for our smoking skills or I haven't heard of any but I do have years of grilling experience. I use either of four home-made grills my uncle and I built from oil tanks, the smallest being a 250 gl. tank.

But I'm going to try my first pork butt Sunday. I'll let you know how it turned out.

Howdy

I am orginally from NW IN(valparaiso). Just started smoking myself. This is the best first step you could take. There is a ocean of knowledge here. If it helps I smoked a butt first and it was a confidence booster. Easy and very tasty.

When you start you wont be able to stop.

Welcome Buggs -

We'd love to help you but first you have to help us:

You said "It's an upright about 3 ft. tall." Is it propane, charcoal or electric?
