My name's Nate and I live in Indianapolis.  I'm currently transitioning from apartment living to having a house and figured I would try my hand at smoking after trying some amazing smoked food.   I do not currently have a smoker but was looking at ordering a Yoder YS640 and maybe moving to a stick burner when I'm more experienced.

Hello Nate. I live just south of indy and recently purchased a ys640 on competion cart. You wont find a better built pellet smoker. I love mine. If you are on facebook..join the yoder smoker fan page. Tons of great information.

Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
About anything you wanna know about smoking/grilling/curing/brining/cutting or slicing
and the list goes on has probably been posted. Remember to post a QVIEW of your smokes.
We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions
Post it and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is
because their are so many different ways to make great Q...
Happy smoken.

Thanks, will definitely join their page.  Do you feel the competition cart was worth the extra $500? I don't plan on competing, but the base casters look like they would be a pain to get through dirt/grass. Thanks.

I have the 640 {and love it!!!} with the smaller casters and yes they would be a pain if you need to move it on anything but concrete.
Here is a link to a mod for the casters:

I looked into doing this and if I remember correctly it would end up costing around $125
Still a lot cheaper than the comp cart.
Keep Smokin!!!
