New Guy in the House

  1. Hi all,

    I'm new to Smoking Meat Forums - happy to be here and I hope to soak up some knowledge y'all are dropping on us.  I live in Austin, TX - only a short 25 minute drive from the BBQ capital of the state, Lockhart, home to Kreuz Market, Smitty's, Black's and more.  I've never owned a smoker, but have been grilling on charcoal my entire adult life - and use my grill to do modified smokes on various food items, I've even smoked a pork butt on it (and swore I'd never do that again because it was so labor intensive).  I'm about to pony up for my first smoker this summer - very excited about that.  I will look for your expert opinions about that when the time comes.

    Welcome to the board! Yep lots of information here. If you've been grilling/smoking then you have one foot in the door already. Look around and see what kind of smoker you'd want, I'm running an offset stick burner and an old Weber kettle.
