New guy from Oklahoma

 Hello to all! I've been skulking about on the forum for several day and thought it would be polite to join. I have learned so much already and I haven't even started received my smoker yet. Well that's not entirely correct. I've already purchased and returned my first smoker, a MB-40 new generation, without even opening the box and trying it out. It looked like there were just too many potential problems. So I have a Smoke Vault ordered that should be here on Saturday.

 I'm looking forward to the experiments (I am a science teacher) and mods (and I'm a tinkerer, too) that I'm certain to try as I learn the art of smoking meat.

Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome!

 I'm sure to be looking around, reading old posts, and asking many questions from you folks who have "been there and done that" before I showed up. I have spent many hours on motorcycle forums gaining info about my scooter, my wife's ride, and a recent restoration of an old Honda. Being a school teacher does come with a few perks, one of which is some time in the summer for projects and "Honey-Do's". My number one project for this summer (according to the Boss) is to learn how to smoke everything I can find. SWEET!!

 Any mods to "Witchy Woman"? I have looked abound a bit and see references to trimming a tab on a vent. I'll be converting my SV24 to natural gas and will probably order a needle valve to help with temp control.
 

 I've been looking at meat probe thermometers and may also look at an A-Maze-N smoke box or tube.
