Found this forum while looking for info on jerky.  I'm a long time cook, baker, etc.  Give me a bottle of wine and I'll spend all day in the kitchen cooking and baking.  Love to grill, I make about 80% of all our meals on it.  Although in Florida, my son and daughter live in Texas, married to Texans.  Hence, I am heavily into bar-b-que, all kinds.  Anyway, as a devoted carnivore, I look forward to getting on this site and learning more about smoking meat.  Look forward to meeting all of you!

Just using a gas grill with wood chips for the flavor I want for now.   Relocated a month ago.  Looking at an egg.  My son has one, he thinks it's great.  Smoking isn't my passion, I just enjoy it.  Do more when I'm in TX with the kids.  I have as much fun doing a French pastry as smoking meat when at home.  Thanks for the welcome!  Was in southern WI 2 weeks ago for a family get together.  The weather sure beat what we're getting here!

Welcome from Canada, Kamguy.

If you are looking to just do the occasional smoke, you might want to look at making a WSM Mini. It is inexpensive (the parts are basically a tamale pot and a Weber Smoky Joe barbecue. It works great and it can be used as a portable bbq when you aren't smoking.

If you are interested, just enter WSM Mini in the search bar and you will see many builds. It is easy to build. If I can do it, anyone can.
