Hi Y'all! Just wanted to introduce myself, Cat Daddy here. As a truck driver for a local company working 60+ hours a week I have only Sunday and every other Saturday to learn to enjoy my newest love, an Oklahoma Joe's Highland Smoker. Bought it last weekend and spent the last seven days debating wether to return it and upgrade but finally decided to do a few mods as suggested in this forum. I used roof flashing and heavy tin to make a heat deflector and to extend the exhaust chimney to the other side of the smoking chamber, effectively creating a reverse flow unit. I feel like they both turned out pretty well and am pleased with the visual result but have yet to test them. My question is should I caulk them ? I bought firestop caulking and wondered if that is the right stuff to use. I know I will be asking a lot of questions in the future and using this forum to great advantage and looking forward to many happy experiences ( and I'm sure my share of disappointments as well)!

Welcome to SMF!

There are a lot of guys on here with your smoker, so hopefully one will be along shortly to answer your questions.
