My name is Ryan, and I live in Idaho. Was smoking meat in an old bullet smoker (Cookin' Cajun Grill/Smoker) that would sit on top of a double propane burner. Worked great, smoked some awesome meat on it. Then I received a Traeger Junior from a family member, and have been trying to learn the ins and outs of my new pellet grill. My results have been pretty good, and I am very happy with the results as of yet. I am definitely a beginner meat smoker, and am educating myself every time I cook. All of this in addition to my other hobbies (i.e. beer brewing, hunting, fishing, etc.).

Looking at doing a couple mods to my Traeger in the future (i.e. fire bricks, second grate, possible higher stand for the smoker/pellet storage, etc.). Have found some great ideas in the forum so far; seems as though there are many very knowledgeable people here.

Thanks for all the great information! If anyone has any advice for me, I am all ears!

I just joined the group! Be interesting to hear about others' previous experiences with their pellet smokers! Any additional information is always helpful!

I plan to hopefully add good information to the site in pictures and write-ups/tutorial type posts. I have been pretty active in beer brewing forums, and have posted some of my projects in said forums. Will see what modifications I can come up with!

Here is a pic of tonight's smoke. Meatloaf! Tasty with a 1:1 mix of hickory and apple pellets. Very tasty indeed!

Stunning. I love meatloaf. Of course, you are planning on meatloaf sandwiches from the leftovers.

No doubt on the meatloaf sandwiches. Some things are just better the second time around (especially when cold - I feel the same about Thanksgiving turkey - the sandwiches the next day are my favorite!).

[IMG]to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a Kindle Fire, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
