Needin help from Oklahoma

    Hi, I'm Greg Thomas from eastern Oklahoma. I currently smoke on a new braunfels, "hondo" smoker that I bought probably 4-5 years ago. I've smoked brisket, chicken, ribs, fish, pork butt and pork tenderloin. I can't think of anything else I usually smoke on my smoker. I've come for some professional advice. I'm tired of finding a "professional" rub that I like then have it discontinued in the stores. Please help me out (thread already posted). I am also going to browse around and see what other meats and/or methods I might need to follow to produce some excellent bbq. FYI, I prefer rubbing the meat, smoking then eating, usually no sauce.     Welcome to the forum.

    If I'm not mistaken, Jeff offers his rub recipe for about $20.00. I've been intending to purchase it myself, I just haven't gotten around to it. I think the proceeds go towards keeping this forum going. That, in itself, has to be a costly endeavor.

    Where 'bouts are you in eastern Oklahoma? I'm in Broken Arrow.

    I grew up in Tulsa. Once I got married I moved to Gore, Ok, right off of lake Tenkiller. I'm about an hour away from Tulsa and miss it immensely at times. But, when I'm hunting or fishing I'm pretty happy where I am.

    I think the rub recipe of Jeff's will be a purchase that I make soon. I'm really not too interested in the sauce as I don't use it. It may be a good thing for the rest of the family though. Take care and holler if you head this way. Thanks, Greg

    Jeff the forum founder offers a rub and sauce combo for $18. He gives you the recipes so you can make it yourself so you do not have to worry about "finding it" in the supermarket.

    In addition one of our forum regulars, Debi has a great website http://www.deejayssmokepit.net/ with a downloadable book of rub recipes several of which i have tried and enjoyed. You can never have too many good rub and sauce recipes so I'd try both!

    I sure will, Greg. We're down that way often. Our favorite place to take the RV is to Greenleaf SP. That's right in your backyard!

    gt2003 are you looking for a general purpose all around rub, or something specific? Maybe take a look and Deejay Debi's site for some rubs... http://www.deejayssmokepit.net/

    I gotta tell a Jeff's Rub is THE best and easily modified if you want it hotter, saltier or whatever! Go for it!
