Well its been forever since I have posted, and forever since, dare I admit to it, even smoking.
After moving to NC and realizing that this IS BBQ country, its time to get back in the saddle. As an early Fathers day gift, my wife bought me a new Landmann 3495GLA propane smoker. If anyone recalls, I had a crappy electric smoker that did churn out some decent Q. Im not saying all electric smokers are crappy, just the one I had.
I got the new smoker put together yesterday, and naturally had to fire her up to break it in. Following the instructions (for once) I tossed in a couple handfuls of chips, and cranked her up. With in 9 minutes I had smoke. Not exactly TBS, but dialing in the temp should help. I was able to quickly get her up to the 225-250 range. The temp/flame control easily raised and lowered the temp. As with all smokers, I put a probe thermometer in to gauge the temp. The door thermo. is junk, but as is expected. I let her run for almost 2 hours. Easily maintained whatever temp. I dialed in. A world of difference from the ol' electric. May the ol' electric rest in peace.
Now to redeem my Q, I need to post some qview. So here is tomorrows planned feast:
1-2 Racks of Spare Ribs
1 Roaster Chicken
Andouille Sausage
Wings
Now the plan is for this to be split amongst lunch and dinner. Qview shall follow in the appropriate sections.
