Found this forum syt looking for a way to get my mes30 running on a cold xmas morn. Was so impressed at the content and especially the attitude of the people on here that I decided to stick around a while. My name is John, my friends call me JR. I live in Mckenna, WA. I have been smokin my whole life and don't plan on quitting. I have been fortunate enuff to have been raised in the PNW. Always have fresh seafood on hand (family have always been fishermen since the dawn of recorded time). I have used quite the eclectic mix of different equipment from small tin cans, to home made smokers made from an old woodstove under a broken oven.(wife almost shot her drawrers when she pulled in the driveway and seen that in the front yard, but the taryaki turkery won her over). I am currently using my old NBBD, my brinkman r2d2 double stacked stickburner, and most recently the MES30,(I used it last night for sausage, added a smoke gen made out of a soup can and a soldier iron to smoke cheese, and now have beans in it). Look forward to seeing more great ideas and pics. will try and do pics myself soon. thank you all....JR

have not YET tried a hole in the ground. have open alder fire smoked a 30lb king salmon. that was cool.

Welcome John, great to have you onboard with us. I think you will like it here. Always great when new people sign up especially those who have smoked before and can bring some new ideas to the forum. Living in the PNW has got to be fun. If I lived there, I think I would be fishing 24/7 LOL. Look forward to seeing your input to the site.
Again, welcome aboard and if you have any quuestion, don't hesitate to ask.
