here is a pic of my first uds build i used a 22.5 weber kettle grill 2" off the bottom and the lid
 
Its great i really couldnt ask for more.... im waiting to get my water bowl to put in it and then it will be finished i got a pork butt and some potatoes on it right now, and they have been on since 1 this am

Say NO to a water bowl, it's not necessary and waste fuel. Just let your meats juice go to the fire.
 
I have to agree with no water bowl. Especially if you smoke in crappy weather. A dry smoke chamber is a lot easier to control temps than one with a bowl of water in it.
