Hi everyone. I just joined, and thought I would share a few pics of my build. Picked this fridge up on craig'slist for a few bucks. It was almost too nice to do this to! But, I put my nostalgic emotions in check, and went to work. It's still not finished, but thought I'd share some now....

I still have to decide which way I want to go as far as heat source, and draft. And if I want to put a dial thermometer on the door, or just go with a digital. can't wait to get it finished and use it! Tired of using the brinkman with electric element that I can't adjust!

These parts are what I was thinking about getting to finish it up, minus a draft. Not sure if I want to attach a side box so I can cold smoke. If I do, then I'll run the draft through that?

Pick up an AMNPS to cold smoke. So much easier.

The build looks great so far!

Yes Dave. It's my cousin's '71 Nova. Had it over the winter, did a ton of work to it for him. Rebuilt 350 with a serpentine belt system, added power steering, took the automatic out and put a Muncie m-21 4spd in it, along with some other odds and ends...
Besides paying me, he let me enjoy it for a few months before I had to give it back, lol...

Yes, they are. I tried talking him into getting a set of the original SS type factory wheels, but he told me I already spent enough of his money, lol....

As well as the fridge is insulated, that heater and controller should work.....  About the stack... It may cause condensate to drip in the food.... I would eliminate the stack if you have problems and just let the exhaust go out the hole in the refer...  You may have to seal the sides of the hole with a short piece or ducting so smoke and moisture don't get into the insulation.....  Dave

Thanks for the advice, Dave. That's a full 3ft length of pipe in there. I figured I'd cut it down little by little, if I have too much draft or whatever.....I didn't think of condensation though.....thanks!

Here ya go Bill.  Have a look at this.  Also you might wanna search the forum for the mailbox mod.  I think I will put one in my fridge build.  Keep Smokin!

Here's another generator option.. I have one on a similar sized smoker, works AWESOME.  It's external and only have to drill a 7/8" hole.   Great flavor because i use lump charcoal and wood chips and chunks...you can use pellets also but chips are much cheaper!   http://smokedaddyinc.com/smokers.htm

Been a little while since I tinkered with the build. Decided to have some fun out of some pipe I had laying around. Not sure how much smoke time I'll get out of this set-up, but I'm already getting frowned upon with how much money I've spent already, lol....

I know the latch is a bit overkill, But I like it!

The knobs/switches and hot plates are from a 220v stove that I paid $25.00 for. I wired everything up on my work bench using 110, and it worked perfectly fine so this is what I'm going with...I'm even using the little dummy light to let me know that one, or both, plates are on/off....

Bill, evening.....  I like your build..... we have the same philosophy....  If you don't know how to engineer it..... overbuild it..... Perfect....
