Mule's Reverse Sear Tri Tip in the MES40 with AMNPS.

Discussion in 'Beef' started by themule69, Sep 29, 2014.

  1. Here we go. I got tri tip last week for 2.50 LB. I have the MES pre heated to 225. I have the AMNPS loaded with 1 row of pitmaster pellets. The tri tip is a simple SPOG.
    More to come.
    Happy smoken.

Works the same as a grill.

Who needs sides! Eat the left side of the tri tip, then the right side!!!!

My wife would want her share so we have to have sides. Otherwise great plan.

One of my favorites for tri tip is to make French dips. Smokey Au jus, grilled onions pepper jack cheese and fresh slices of tomato, yumm!

Beer Bacon Brussel sprouts are a good side. Smoker roaster veggies garlic mashers, asparagus, green beans all good options.

  10. Well no sliced or plated pics. [IMG]I had a customer call and kept me busy for to long[IMG]. I have to say this is the worst cut of tri tip I have ever seen. It was cooked to a IT of 135°. The flavor was spot on but It was tough. I am going to blame the cow[IMG]. Maybe that is why the price was so low. Don't get me wrong, it was still a deal. Heck I can't buy burger for that. I hope the rest of the case is more tender. If not, I will still be eating good[IMG]. But not great.

Side note: I have a grinder and know how to use it! No cow is to tough for the grinder[IMG].

    Happy smoken.

Bummer on the tenderness!!!! Hopefully you sliced against the grain. That makes the world if difference with tri tip. If it was still tough, then it's got to be the cow!!!hooefully the rest are better. If not grind it up and start making burgers! All except those few for whole tri tip jerky!

  13. Thanks but it was sliced right.
    Happy smoken.
