Split Pea. (Im sure this might get a response similar to asparagus)

Nothing is better in my book than a bowl of split pea soup. Well maybe black bean.

Split Pea Soup (from memory)
1 Bag split peas
2 ham hocks
1 lb diced ham
2 celery stalks (dice)
1 lg onion (dice)
2 carrots (dice)
1 Red Bell Pepper (dice)
2-5 Jalepeneos (Dice)
2 Qts Chicken Stock (more for thinning the soup)
2-3 Bay Leaves
Salt, Pepper and Red Pepper Flakes TT

Place all ingredients in a stock pot and simmer slow till peas are soft or place all ingredients in a crock pot and cook on low 6-8 hours. When peas are soft remove hocks and bay leaves. Puree to desired consistency. Serve with crusty bread. Drizzle a little evoo over the top of the soup when in serving bowls and sprinkle a few red pepper flakes.

Heck, I love split peas AND asparagus. lol
Looks great Vlap, I'm going to give it a try. Thanks!

Thanks for the recipe, Vlap. It's similar to one we use, but yours has more heat.

When we have split pea soup, we often serve it by some rice (usually brown) in the bowl then ladling the soup over it. I like the texture the rice adds.
