Hello, I just bought a new MES 40" with the window from sams club. While breaking it in i noticed about a 1/2" gap around the door.

I have adjusted the door clamp and I cannot seem to close this gap.

I am wondering if this is something i should try and repair, or just take it back to Sam's Club because it is still new.

This is something I would just take back to Sam's as it is brand spanking new. Sounds like poor workmanship. Let Sam's deal with it.

The seal is there, it just does not come close to the body of the smoker.

Looks like I will be taking this back tonight.

Yep,
Take it back.
My 30" model seals real well. I get a tiny smoke leak on the top right but only when I have a lot of smoke. Holds temp great, but I added some tiles for thermal mass on my unit (older 650 W model). The 1200 W unit must be great.

One warning, 1200W is about 10amps. If you use an extension cord, make it as short and thick as possible. I would recommend a 12/3 at least, 10/3 if you can find one.
Don't use a 14 gauge or higher.
