So ACE Hardware extended their Black Friday sale on Masterbuilt Digital Smoker for $129 . I have been using a Stick Burner for 20+ years but have been thinking I should broaden my horizons . Will I be Happy playing with this ???

$129.00!  How could you go wrong?  It's a new toy to play with, and I'll bet it will crank out some great Q without the maintenance of a stick burner.

  3. That's a good price and smoker, I recently bought one at field and stream for 159, you did good.

Which model is it? Can you post a picture? There are three generations with some better than others so in some cases it is worth a little more money to get a different generation.

I have had the 20070910 Generation 1 now for about a year & have had great results with it.

The 30" Electric is listed in the ad at $149. It is an all black Gen 1 20071814, which may be an Ace only model. It should work well...JJ

  8.  i would jump on it, it sounds like it might be very similar to the one that Lowe's has, very similar pricing (when on sale). I went to look at it at Lowe's on sale (both the 30 & 40) and by the end of the day I came home with the "40" SS forward controls, remote, glass in door and two additional shelves for  $289.00 plus 24.5 for the extra shelves. I thought that was a great deal. brought me into the electric age.....[IMG]  everyone is wheeling and dealing right now (use the magic phrase) will you match or beat? in my case they had 4 of them and the dust on the box was so thick you could write your name in it, they worked with hind sight I should have bought two LOL.

would be all over it for the price whether you needed it or say ACE had it?

  12. You should be able to find more information than you need on those two subjects by using the search bar at the top left of the forum.

St Louis cut in MES 30----No big deal, but first thing is cut it in half.

    Then here's some tips:

The St Louis ribs were a short Rack so that was not an issue . Went with a JD theme Jack Daniels Barrel Chips Then in the water Pan used 1/2 cup JD and 1 1/2 cups water .  I was surprised with how different the flavor was. On my Stick Burner I almost always use Cherry ,  Apple or Pecan . I never use a water pan and usually pan not wrap . So I started the Chuck at 10AM then added the ribs at 12 . Wrapped the Chuck at 1 and the ribs at 3 . Got busy hanging Christmas lights and did not get the ribs unwrapped and pulled everything at 5. Ribs were fall off the bone (not  preferred ) that was my fault and the Chuck was perfect. Really liked the ease of temp control and the fact you can open the door and regain temp fairly quick. I do a lot of large group multiple meat cooks and see myself using this quite a bit !

Bear I have your page saved and will be using it as my bible Thanks !
