Masterbuilt or Bradley

I am debating on Masterbuilt stainless steel digital smoker or Bradley black self feeder.

This is my first smoker and they are priced the same about $300.

Bradley pros from what I see. Auto Feed chips, Temp gets up to 320. Cons are cost of chips, temp gauge is sliding type and not able to set actual temp.

Masterbuilt pros are stainless steel, ability to use any type chips, digital set temp. Cons are temp only gets to 275, since I am newbie I would be worried about always having to look at it to see if chips are gone.

At this point I am leaning on the Bradley as it has the self feeder as it would help me not over or under smoke things. Any opinions and remember I am a newbie and more then likely will be using it once a month of so.

    Thanks

I could also go with the non stainless steel masterbuilt for $100 cheaper. I may lean towards that so I can buy some other accessories.

I love my Masterbuilt. It is digital, user friendly, and you don't have to buy their pucks.

You can always buy a smokedaddy, and get 6 hours of smoke for about 70 dollars.

I am sure someone else will come along soon.

I would not reccomend the non stainless mes.

Also if I were you and didn't need it right away I would wait a bit as I know Masterbuilt is bringing a new model out with new mods and features. It should be here in a month or so.

Hope this helps with your decision.

The masterbuilt 40" will be on sale at Cabela's Dec 12th for $299.99, the reg. price is $349.99.[IMG]

If you go to the Bradley forum and do a lot of research before you buy you will see that almost everyone has to do modifications to get them to work properly...

They add PIDs, second elements etc...

The pucks are only available from them, although sold through different outlets at different prices.

Both the original 4 rack and the digital 4 and 6 racks have only a 500 watt element and is under powered.

I have the Digital 6 rack and have not been able to get the temp over 200º even after they sent me a new temp sensor...

If you want a smoker for cold smoking it is a great smoker but if you want to BBQ then stay away from the Bradley...[IMG]

    Just my $.02

How do you know that will be on sale on the 12th? I would lean on that one if that is the case. I am surprised there are only 2 reviews of it. Is that a pretty new model?

Kurtsara do you know if the sale will also be online? I know I can't make it to Cabelas on Sat during that time?

ronp does the window work well for you? I would think it would get blackened or clouded from the smoke.

Thanks for all of the input it will help me make my decision.

It does work, but yes, it does require maintenence. I will reinterate, if you can wait 2 weeks to one month I would wait for the new model.

    Just my opinion though.

What are the main advantages of the stainless steel over non stainless. I know they look better and are a little easier to clean but is there anything else?

  11. I have both and I can tell you I prefer the Masterbuilt.
    Purchase at Sam's for 199.99

From all my research I am going with the 40" Masterbuilt that is going to be on sale this Sat. Assuming they don't run out of them. Thanks everyone for helping me make this decision as I was leaning on the Bradley.

Now I just have to decide what to smoke first. I am thinking a pork butt for pulled pork sandwiches.

I received a flier in the mail... It is the Stainless Steel Model and the sale begins at 8:00 A.M. While Supply Lasts...

They also are going to have the Pro 150 Slicer on sale for #119.99 for those who might be interested...

I would check with your local Cabela's to make sure they are going to have them...
