Been hideing and lurking for about 3 weeks and some great info from all members on this site. I want to start being a smoker due to this season I took some venison to a new butcher for snack sticks only because he was closer then the other place, only to get back what I wasent expecting.

I have a store which has the Masterbuilt 30" electric smoker on sale for $149.00 (6 in stock as of 12/27/2011), BUT it has a modle number of 20070511. I read here that the 20070106 had some element issues, but did not find much on this modle #. I can get today if I want.

Any info if this modle has issues anyone can tell me, or should I just play it safe and go to Amazon.com for $199.00 W/ free shipping for the 20070910 updated modle.

I'm not looking for the 40" or glass door YET, untill I play around and see if smoken is for me.

Any help appriciated.....

Signed, wannaB new smoker.

Thanks Big C.

Was just on the phone with lowes and told me $149.00 from $179.00 for the 20070511. Could not even tell me how many Watts it was 650 or 800.

No one could tell me about the $79.00 smoker by MES. Didnt have a clue what I was talking about.

Thanks Big C,

that link just keeps trying to load with no luck. I think that smoker was a On-line misprint. Im still looking into that $79.00 smoker as I type.

Thanks again Big C

hmm thats weird the page says the sale is on till 2/15/2012

here I grabbed the page for you maybe you can use the model numbers from the description

Thanks again Bic C...

I saw the date also.

I found the same item from lowes on a few on line searches.

I printed out the page and will be going tomorrow to see whats up directally from the lowes store.

Mabey they will help me out a bit in our findings.

I did see also on that page that no links to click to purchase in any way. Its just an information page on that smoker.

yeah  on that page there is the "find store pick up locations" when I click on that it shows me all the store in my area that "may" have it , cause they all say limited quantities... so it's probably a close out of that smoker and once they are gone thats it

I would assume for $149.00 sale price would still not be a bad deal to try out and get started.

I just sent a E-mail to masterbuilt on that #20070511 model to see if they can tell me how many watts it is.

Would you assume that the above model is still a bit newer then the #20070106? Thanks the 1 I heard had the bad element connector. I know on here is a quick fix to that problem.

Just called MES and was told it is 800watts. Ill be heading to get a hands on look tomorroe. Only about 20min drive.

Thanks again Bic C

I have the 20070511 model it has a built in meat probe and has an external grease tray, which may be the difference between it and other models, also could be wattages for some to.

Thanks AX Ron:

Any problems with the 20070511 unit yet?

How long have you had the unit?

Had you made any mods, or needed to?

THX

No problems yet just seasoned it yesterday, going to smoke on it tomarrow so we shall see. It has the larger chip tray so it should be good ie no mods.  Good luck

Hello AzRon:

I just went today and picked up the MES 30",  total after sales and 5% off lowes card $153.94. A bit to cold to be out and season mine (21Deg's out). Looks like Sunday will be good 45Deg's. This will give me time to think of what to smoke first.

Let me know how it all works out and I will do the same.

NYsmoker did a pork loin st louis ribs and a fatty, pork loin may have screwed it up don't know ribs good and fatty was very good.  Still learning tho (steep learning curve)   Will keep at it and figure it out
