My wife bought me a Char-broil Deluxe smoker for my 40th birthday almost 8 years ago. As much as I liked it and enjoyed smoking I found the charcoal smoker required a lot of time to manage. I'd pretty much have to be onsite and readily available anytime I wanted to smoke something. Because of this and having to allocate a solid day to smoking I didn't smoke as often as I would have liked.
Then a couple weeks ago I saw a brand new smoker (Masterbuilt) still in the box listed on craigslist. It's a 30" model with Bluetooth, which beats the heck out of the wireless thermometer I used before. Needless to say I love it and couldn't be happier. It came with a stand which is nice so I only had to buy a cover for it.
I've only smoked jerky in it and my first batch came out too crispy. I smoked it at 200 for about 4 hours. The second batch I did at 180 for about 6 hours and that came out perfect. I'm hoping to get ribs on this weekend.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and hope I can learn some new recipes and improve on my smoking technique.
