The freezer's empty of hot and sweet sausage. Went in search of a decent priced pork butt to make some with. Most every other place (Fiesta, Tom Thumb, Albertson's, Sack'n'Save, etc.) were 1.99 to 2.49 / lb. Went to Walmart and they were 1.78 lb. Almost bought one until I looked over in their sausage section - a 3lb. box of store brand links was $5.97 - 1.99 lb. already made up. For the .20 a pound difference, plus having to remove the blade bone, it just wasn't worth the time and trouble making my own, plus the butt was around $13.50 and the box sausage was $5.97. Wife's having her bone marrow test tomorrow; her cancer's growing back at an alarming rate, she has to start radiation treatments within a week. I buckled and picked up the 3lb. box and went thru the registers. I'll make my own when we've got some of the thousands of bills paid off; right now I have to watch every penny and for 20cents diff. per pound, it was the only logical choice. Goin' to bed feeling guilty I cheated on my grinder and stuffer!

I wouldn't feel to bad bout your stuffer and grinder I sure they will understand. I hope everything goes well for you and your wife, I wish the very best for you both our prayers will be with you.

Best wishes,
Rich

Pops you spent a lot of gas money toolin around. Phone is easy.

SO SORRY about the Mrs.

P.S. My Wifes Uncle just got the word yesterday that 6 months would be extremely lucky. He was fine the day before. I won't go into detail but he realized he needed to see a Dr. - they found the stuff "EVERYWHERE" - they don't even know the original source.

Make something REALLY tasty for the wife. I have been thru a small amount of her ordeal, and it's hard to eat, as you no doubt know. But eat you must. God Bless...

I'm sure you'll enjoy the premade stuff, anyway you've a more important job right now. No doubt she's stood at your back in the past and you've been her back, but now pour ALL your love and support her way. I don't know the complete story and really it's not place to know, but it is my place to send heartfelt Prayers your way and my belief that God is there for you and the wife. Good luck Docs, and trust the Lord.

Everyplace was within a few blocks or less except Fiesta, about 1 1/2 miles - I was especially disappointed there as they had "country style pork ribs' advertised at $1.17lb... figured I'd just pick up a couple packages. They had none in the case so the gal said to wait a couple minutes. She came out with a pack of crappy pork strips that were either end fat cuts off a butt or the blade bone with little meat on it cut into 1" strips - not the full meaty butt strips that I'd seen there before at regular price. If it's on sale they crapcut it - what a piece of *s--t* meatcutting. Does dishonor to the craft, believe me. Apparently their meat merchandiser has no pride in his or her departments if they allow crappy cutting like that to turn away customers.

So sorry to hear about your wife's uncle. Did they determine what kind of cancer it was? We will pray for him - a miracle can happen! is he going to get chemo or radiation? My mom had a lymphoma in her stomach the size of a grapefruit and they gave her 2 months - chemo shrunk it to oblivion and she lived another 7 years until arterialschlorosis did her in; her whole intenstinal trac shut down, but not from the cancer.

Thanks so much for all the prayers, they will work!

Pops,
Havn't had the pleasure of "meeting" you online yet, but I've "been there and done that" with the wife -(breast twice) you're right..prayers do work. It ain't fun but He will get you through it. Remember it will never be more than you can handle. We have His promise on that.

Paryers inbound for your wife and family.

Our prayers are with ya and the Mrs pops. My daughter calls store bought sausage cheater sausage. She likes the kind i make for her....some of the fondest memorys we have are hand stuffing sausage in a antifreeze funnel. Bt thats a new story...

I wish you all strengh, comfort and peace

Amen

What everyone else said Pops.

Pops - you've got Mrs. Pops set as the highest priority right now. It's OK to cheat with the sausage. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

Meowey

Pops, you don't have to feel guilty about a thing. You've got your priorities right. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Grind and stuff when the rest of your burden lightens. MP

man, I hope things get turned around for her, and you, I'll keep you in my prayers, if anyone gives you any guff about not making any, take them off your "people I give sausage to" list and don't look back. I put my family ahead of flavor anytime, but its a tough call sometimes.

Pops please know that my thoughts and prayers will be with you and your wife as you go through this ordeal. Been there, breast cancer, no chemo - but 33 radiation treatments.

A husband who is there for his wife while she battles cancer is a treasure to be highly valued. I'm sure she'd rather have "cheater sausage" and your hugs and caring than anything else. We ate a lot of Schwans for those 6 weeks - no big problem, she's most important right now . . . and you need to make sure you're well rested too!
