Ihave been smoking awhile, time to build one from scratch, need idea's

I got my hands on a 60 gallon air compressor tank, the legs are pretty rusty, i was going to flip it over and mount it on my trailer with the top platform that the compressor would mount on.  What i am trying to figure is were to put the fire box.  It will be mounted at the rear of my trailer length wise, and it is a little over 5 feet long.  Would putting the fire box under it in the middle be a bad thing?  If there are any idea's and or pictures, that would be great.

Welcome to SMF!   I would put it off the back or at one end.  Underneath will make for a whole host of problems.  The compressor tank is going to be relatively thin metal, so it will conduct or disperse heat pretty easily.  Just my 2 cents, but off one end or the other will be easier for stoking and controlling airflow.

im not an expert but ive built 3 reverse flow and 1 offset smoker i would not build anything but a reverse flow from here on out the temps are easier to control and the whole smoking experiance is improved. its all good

ive allways incorparated my firebox into the tank, but ive only built 250 gal tanks i would put the fire box on one end with a tube or pipe to transfer the heat and smoke, but thats only my opinion.
