How Much To Make?

    I figured that many of you have cooked for a large group of people before. I am having a party next weekend where I will have approx. 40 guests (27 adults). I am planning on serving pulled pork at the main dish. I currently have a 6.5# Boston Butt in my freezer. Do you think that I would have enough pork if I got 2 more butts that are approx. the same size?

    I may go larger for the potential leftovers.

    Alot of folk here use a half pound cooked weight per person... with sides-adult. I usually go with 3/4 lb. If you are not worried about leftovers <as they freeze very well> then plan on perhaps 30 lbs raw weight butt...

    Sound about right folks?

    I would cook 20# raw weight and then add to that for leftovers to suit yourself. Good product keeps well when vac sealed.

    Ahhh thanks Goat... I guess my formula's based on beer drinkin' buddies...LOL! And everyone wants a sammy to go.

    20# raw = 10# cooked Divided by 1/4# sammie's give's you 40 sammie's...[​IMG]
