Has anyone used a hydronic hot water tank like this for a small RF smoker?  41 gallon, 23 3/4" x 36" I haven't cut into it and was wondering if these are too thin. Looking for any words of wisdom before I jump in.

Hello.  I have never cut in to one but as they are designed to be used at 70-100 psi I would image they are pretty thin.  The thickness of the base may give you some idea.  If the tank has a blown bladder or is in some other way unfit for purpose, I'd say why not cut in to it?  Worth a shot.  I  doubt they would be 1/4", probably even less than 3/16"; but if you can live with thinner give 'er a try.  Is a good size smaller smoker.  Let us know what ya find.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!

I've been trying to find a LP tank for a few months now. Propane companies around here won't sell because of liability issues. Nothing at the local scrap yards.

Run an ad on craigslist. Looking for a LP tank. Also do a search for one on craigslist. Or don't tell the propane company what you are going to do with it. Tell them it is for you hunting cabin. or some other BS
