Just a FYI for anybody that is traveling through NC on I-95. I live a short drive from Smithfield where 95 goes through. There is a great pork outlet/store just outside of town there. It's called Nahunta Pork Center. http://www.nahuntapork.com/ Bring a cooler and stock up. Lots of high quality meat. No, I don't work there. It's an all local operation where they kill on site. Super fresh. Almost every time I've been I've seen license plates from all over the country and people stuffing meat in coolers.
A friend of mine who moved to NC from New Jersey said she can't believe how much better the pork is here. She just wishes somebody would teach southerners how to make good Italian sausage from this good pork
