My name is Andrew and I reside in north fort worth.

Been reading the board as a lurker and want to be involved.
Where there is smoke there is fire and I want that in my backyard.

Started with charcoal and went to the convenience of propane however it is sterile and lacking the smokey goodness.
So, I am on a mission to bring back the charcoal and to start smoking meat!

Plus, have you seen what they charge for brisket and rack of ribs? I want to buy my meat, butcher it and smoke it myself!

Now, I just need to convince the wife that a 55Ga drum is functional.

Comedy and ribbing is welcome as only good friends harass each other.
So in that spirit- GO HORNS!

Andrew

Once the wife gets a taste of the fine home smoked goodness you come up with she should be on board.

Welcome to the forum. Glad to have you aboard.

Hello Andrew, and welcome to the SMF. You mentioned propane and no smoke flavor. Are you using any wood chips/chunks? This will give you much more robust flavor than just charcoal, in a propane smoker. It's all good my friend.

Thank you everyone for the warm and smokey welcome.

Adding wood chips is a great idea and I will start down that road.
I will follow up with the locals about events, and suggestions.

Have a nice weekend.
Regards, Andrew
