I just found this forum today while looking around for some recipes and "how to" info. for smoking. I'm brand new to this, have never smoked anything before (except my Marlboro's)

... I bought a little smoker from QVC just a couple of days ago (someone actually mentioned it somewhere around here)..I think it's a Masterbuilt..and won't even get it till around the 14th. I'm really excited about getting it and wanted some good ideas about what to do with it when it arrives. Geeze, you guys are all really good at this ! I am so impressed with all I've read so far and looking forward to learning from you all.
I'm single so I won't be smoking a ton of stuff at a time..thought I'd put a couple of chickens on first to get my feet wet. Which reminds me.. my dog Jack (female) loves chicken...is it ok for her to eat the smoked stuff ? I know that sounds stupid, but I was thinking about the richness of the smoke flavor. Upset tummy ????? I also have 2 horses, 3 cats (inside) and 2 ferrel cats outside.
Wow, this got long really quick..just wanted to say hello and I'm lovin' it here!

Welcome to the forums. The horse probably won't want anything to do with the smoked meats, but between the dog and the cats, they'll keep you busy smoking.

Don't worry PG...all the smoked meat is going to do to your dog is to spoil her rotten!
And I'm assuming you won't really have any objection to that

Welcome to the forum...the longer you stay, the better it gets.

Welcome to the site, before you know it you will be smoking like a champ and amazed you ever lived without such a wonderful thing.
I feed the mule (my dog Guinness) smoked food all the time and she loves it, even my cat loves smoked chicken and especially pulled pork so no worries.
Chicken or turkey is a good start, I started out doing turkey legs and loved them but be sure to not overcook the chicken, have you ever tried brining?
Any questions always feel free to ask, and welcome to the family.

Welcome to smf PG.... Lots of great peeps and info around here.. Congrats on your new smoker and happy smokes !!

Welcome aboard, I am a newby as well. Lots of good knowledge here. I usually do not involve myself with internet posts but this is very different.
The Qviews are amazing, ideas of things you would never imagine!

Thank you for joining our SMF family! We're all here to help, and there is absolutely nothing that is a stupid question; your question once asked is a relief to others who want to ask it, so ask away! Besides loving to smoke, we love to chat too! Plus, we make sausage, cure meats, dream up different sides and new ways to do all cuts so it's always something happening that you'll start piling on your 'to do' list! Enjoy and keep us posted on all your successes, and we'll help you through ones that aren't quite a total success too! And, we all look forward to everything you can teach us, also! We all learn from each other!
