Smoked meats have always been my favorite, but I've never had the opportunity to try my hand at it until now. I just bought a 30" MES, and I'm so excited about it that I can't decide what to cook first.

I've been researching recipes and techniques for a while now, but I just stumbled across these forums yesterday, and all I can say is "WOW!" I'm completely impressed with the wealth of information and the number of friendly and active contributors here. I look forward to this being my one-stop learning resource, and I'm grateful to everyone responsible for keeping this place alive.

P.S. "mythmaster" is my username on several tech support forums -- it originated on one where I help people build Home Theater PC's using Linux and MythTV.

Being a newbie to the Linux world, I am impressed. Welcome to the forum Bret, er, Mythmaster. And your problem won't be "Where to start smoking" it will be "What can I smoke next!!???." (Remember, as a rule, pets do not qualify as smoking meat products. However, if you happen across a stray...........)

Yo mythmaster, your home now bud, there are more than a few MES owners that are regulars on SMF.

Can't wait to see your first Q pics.......

Thanks, everyone! I've decided to christen it this weekend with a Prime Rib (if I can find a good cut), so I'll be asking for tips in another thread.
