New to the Forum , my first horizontal smoker, just picked up a GillPro.
Would love a Yoders but this is good for now .
Love outdoor cooking and charcoal BBQ, my perfect flame charcoal BBQ just died , I love the off set box and the indirect heating .
looking forward to this summer , anyone know how i keep the coal box dis-coloring or is this normal from the heat.

welcome to SMF. Glad to have you here

Welcome to SMF glad you joined us. You'll find lots of good info and some great recipes here. Some people will rub some cooking oil on the outside of the firebox and let it heat/season this will keep the nice color and keep it from rusting they repeat as needed to keep it looking like they want. Others will keep a can of high heat paint handy and try to keep the box looking decent and not rusting

Welcome to SMF.

It's normal for the firebox to discolour. It's just what happens with heat exposure.

As was said there are ways to minimize it. I just repaint mine every now and then.

Hello from Indiana, welcome to SMF. Even high temp paint will usually peel when around that kind of heat. Just wire brush and give it a new spray coat once in a while to keep the rust from getting too deep.
