One of the guys I work with just bought a Brinkman Gourmet electric smoker, and I believe that I noticed one in your signature. Any tips and pointers based on your experience with it that I can pass along to him?

Bubba, I, too, anxiously await your reply. I garage-saled a Brinkmann charcoal Gourmet from guy and found it to be a fantastic improvement over my cheaper versions. The guy said he was getting rid of it because he had got the electric version and was forever through with charcoal.

I've been miserably curious ever since.

i have a gourmet.....but its charchol..........i perfer charchol.........i like the taste charchol gives........greazy you will need to make mods to yours to better heat control...........i will find the link on making mods to a water smoker.......these mods are not made on the gourmet......but it will give you ideas for yours..........

Thank you Dude, you are indeed correct re mods... I have already made some of them. I won't argue about one fuel over the other as I'm convinced that each one is better for certain applications and I expect to have the fun of mastering each one.

I've got one of the charcoal versions, but it as my folk's place not being used at all. I bought it years ago but never did anything to speak of with it. Last year I bought the BGE and really started cultivating my interest in all of this stuff.

its a great cheap lil first time smoker........tho i have used mined or a REAL ecb, for the last 20 years........turned out some good Q offa it......and since i found THIS site.........turned out even BETTER and DIFFERENT q offa it.........my first brisket, butt, and abts............

getting a stick burner for christmas.....but will ALWAYS have this ecb near buy.........its cheaper to use if you only have one or two items........the stick burners use up way more fuel.......fuel=money.......so would need to really fill it up to justify the expense.........

this lil contraptions can turn out EXCELLANT q.........

Hey Smoke, tell him to use the sandpan mod to start, unit run's about 235-240 unless it gets windy, use chunks, about 2 at a time, other than that , it's the easiest Q he'll ever make.
Basically set it and forget it..........
