Good morning everyone! I'm new here and just bought my first smoker (GOSM) yesterday. I'm looking forward to being an active member here, and smoking some great food!!

For my first smoke, I'm going to try some beer can chicken tomorrow. Time to go read

I have a general forum question. Why does post 1# start on the bottom of the last page? I've searched around but can't find the answer. Can I switch the view so post #1 is the first post on the first page?

Thanks,

Tommy

Welcome Tommy! Yer in for a heck of an education, Bud!

RE: post order...go to the top menu bar and select "User CP" <Control panel>. All the setup stuff is there.

Tom, click on " User CP" in the Heading at the top of the page. Scroll down to "Edit Options" then scroll down and check OLDEST FIRST

By any chance, does your father live in the Atlanta area?

Welcome, welcome. I'm fairly new too but have learned a lot here. Great place and people. Haven't tried the beer can chicken thing yet. Make sure you share (Q-View).

Welcome,

Beer can chicken is a great thing to start with. Have you seasoned your smoker already? Do you have a probe thermometer? You will definitely want to smoke your food by internal temp and not by time. I am sure you will find some great ways to make a beer can chicken. I have made one and it came out super. Getting ready to smoke two this weekend along with 2 racks of Baby Backs. I have the same smoker that you have and I love mine. Good luck and I look forward to hearing about how your food turns out.

I seasoned it by the directions it came with, but I think I'm going to spray down the inside with PAM and heat it to about 300 degrees for an hr or so this evening.

I bought a probe thermometer (one that you see in a lot of AC vents in cars) when I bought the grill. I also have a digital thermometer that sets on the outside of the grill with a probe that I'm going to keep in it from start to finish. I'm thinking of returning the thermometer I just bought as I don't think I really need it.

All recommendations gladly accepted!

Oh, and this is by far the friendly forum I've been on, and I'm a member of a lot!!

Ya got that right! I've been a meber for a year, and an active (overactive?) one for for about 6 months and have found the whole group of members here to be some of the best folks you'll come across. I bid thee welcome to this here forum!

Ken
