hello yall from oklahoma!

hey everyone. im James, ive been smokin with my dad ever since i was a little guy but really started doin it on my own about 3 years ago. I made a pot of smoked bbq chili yesterday and was wondering what would go best with it (never made bbq chili before) an i stumbled upon this forum an fell in love haha. im not sure what kind of a smoker i got, its my dads ol smoker but its pretty good size, we usually do a 100 or so lb hog bout once a month. its the kind that looks like a 50 gallon drum with the fire box off to the side (sorry, i have no idea what its called yet haha) ill try to post some pics of it later. We love to smoke, grill an create new recipes. im really lookin forward to learinin all new recipes, meetin new people and gaining some more knowledge and tips

Welcome to the group James!  That sounds like a nice smoker you've got.  If your producing some good Q with it, keep on smoking!

Hello James, from one Oklahoman to another! You've discovered a great place to learn and share with other smoking and grilling enthusiasts! I'm not positive from your description, but your pit sounds like it might be an offset horizontal smoker. Anyway, glad you joined out group. Just ask when you need help...lots of friendly and helpful folks here that'll do what they can to help out!
