Hi
I am Jerald and I a new smokeahloic. I just picked up one of these and am seasoning it as I type. I have been lurking for a little while reading and learning so I am pretty pumped to jump face first into this sport.

Thanks. Just need to seal it some. I picked up a couple of BGE gaskets to seal the main box lid and smoker cabinet door.

Good evening and welcome to the forum, from a cloudy and cool day here in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Welcome Jerald, I'm sure you will enjoy this site. There is tons of knowledge here and lots of folks eager to share. I guess you don't need any help trying to figure out what smoker to buy. That's a nice looking rig. Good luck and good smoking, joe

Thanks. I'm just trying to figure out how to get a good amount of heat from the fire box over to the upright. While seasoning, I had the main chamber as high as 610 degrees but I struggled to get 240 in the upright. I don't have a remote thermometer yet but measuring the temp out of the top stacks showed between 235 and 244. I removed the water pan, calmed the main chamber down to about 350ish and the, temp in the upright read between 220 and 230. I'm going to install the BGE gasket on the door and lid to see if that will help a little. Any ideas?
