Hello, Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m Rob Mongeon of the NEBS team Green Mountain Smokeshack out of Colchester, VT just 70 miles south of the Canadian border. Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ve been smoking for 6 years. I started out on a “Big Baby†homemade smoker which was built out of 2 (55) gallon steel drums mounted horizontally using a stove leg and door kit. You can see the plans for it here:

Last year we finally got serious and bought a Char Griller Smokin Pro and a Guru to haul to BBQ competitions in the NorthEast. We were middle of the pack but got 10th for sausage. This year we got even more serious and our competition setup is a Caldera Tall Boy with a stoker and a WSM with the guru. I do chicken and ribs on the WSM and the rest on the Tall Boy. We also do a little catering to pay for all this neat stuff. This year weâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ll just about break even.
My other hobby is “contesting†or recipe contests. Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ve been featured on Food TV twice – once for Build a Better Burger in 2005 in an episode title Build a Better Burger II. The other time was for the 2007 National Chicken Cooking Contest – episode titled $100,000 Chicken Cooking Contest.
Still yet another hobby is home brewing and mead making which I do in the fall through spring.
My day job is a Web Developer for Gardeners Supply Co – pretty much writing software which runs our ecommerce site. I hope to be writing software for the stoker when I get a chance.
Nice to meet you all!
