I recently got a GOSM with some assorted smoking chips/chunks and am ready to go. For the weekend i plan on doing some ABT's and have a question regarding smoking times. I saw somewhere else that somebody said to smoke ABT's at 325 for 45 minutes. Isnt that too high for too little?

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Did i mention i like to fish

Welcome to the forum.

Regarding the ABTs........just like everything else Q wise......more than 1 way to skin a cat.

dave,
Welcome, man gotta love that grin of yours with that fish!!!!

for the abt's, yes too high for one.....I'd not go above 225 ever.....and for the time....well.....45 mins is for those who can't wait for a good thing.....remember this is low and slow not "domino's crap pizza".....

well okay, I've got mine at 250 now but I'm doing chilpoltle's...... but really.......225 is a good place to be at for most.....and for the abt's, it is all a depends thing...depends on how ripe the jap is, how raw the stuffining is and what it is and the bacon....can't forget the pork fat!!!!!!........ in some cases yes 45 mins will do, for the one's I do....it's a bit longer......kinda like hour and half longer kind of time frame.....but I don't do them often because they give me gas!!!

Welcome aboard Hollywood. And if you are a Floridian and love to fish, I better see you over on the Florida Sportsman Forum also.

That's probably one of my post with ABT's from 40 to 45 minutes @ 325º and unlike Smoked above, that is all I do my ABT's at, atleast if you want your bacon done crisp (unless you pre-cook it some) BUT.....this is on a gas grill also, not the smoker. Takes too long on the smoker, when you're wanting a snack and with a foil packet with some hickory chips, they come out just fine.

Welcome from an other Florida smoker. I do my ABTs on the smoker at 250 to 275 with hickory or oak...cause I like the smoke flavor. All you are doing is cooking the bacon.

Welcome to the SMF. Your fishing pics remind me of the good ol' days!

Well, i've been away for a while but i will be getting back to FS Forum, Boatless Fishing Forum, Spearboard, and SpearfishingPlanet Forum to name a few
