Newbe here from Muskegon Michigan located on the beautiful sandy lake shore in Mid Michigan. This site is great, have been reading some of your post & they are very informative.

Pretty much just a backyard weekend warrior when it comes to grilling. Pretty much just an old Nemco about twenty years old. Have always thought smoking & about a week ago put some sirloin Chops on & added hickory chips for the first time.

That convinced me that I need to look into this more & take the jump. I rescently picked up a Brinkman professional series smoker at an local auction for about $35.00 so as soon as I tune it up - I'm eager to go.

Also about a year ago I picked up a duel fuel upright box smoker that I had intended on doing some Jerky some day. It's still in the box, but after reading some of these post, I'm ready to "break it out" & try a smoking a pork Butt soon.

The only smoking i've done to date is my Swisher Sweets - which I love. Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet all of you & I look forward to my future "smokin" adventures.

Dan.

Welcome to the best smokin' site on Mother Earth, SMF that is. Break open that box, and introduce it to a world of smokin' Q!

Welcome, a ton of info can be learned here, by the way I still work for a company that was called Muskegon piston ring when I started there.

Hi Dan,
Welcome to the gang. The Silver Lake Sand Dunes BBQ competition is this weekend. I've been told there's a ton of good food, people, and info to be had. I'm kinda new too, but my wife (who graduated from Muskegon High) and I are heading up there this year. See you around?

-Scott

Thanks for the kind welcome, I did see that there was a competition up at Silver Lake this weekend. But this weekend here in Muskegon is the Michigan Irish Music Festival and I am the transportation co-ordinator backsatge for the Artist and the FEIS (dance competition) judges. SO that will consume my entire weekend unfortunatly. Wish I could make it though. Have a great time & drive safe. Dan.
