Hi everyone,
I'm in Westminster, Md. Thanks for all the wonderful input on this forum. I have an ECB which does the job but keeps me up all night. Last month I bought a MES which lets me sleep...thank you Masterbuilt.
I did miss the flavor of charcoal with the electric smoker. Through some guidance from this site, I crumbled some charcoal and added it to the wood chips and botta bing. Can't be happier with the results. Me thinks the ECB will be retired...maybe passed along to my brother.
No smoking this weekend due to weather. I have some leftover pulled pork in the freezer and want to try some pork and beans. If anyone has a good recipe for the beans, please point me in the right direction.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark, and welcome to the SMF. I too have been adding some charcoal to my wood chips in my propane Smoke Vault and have been happy with the results. I understand the weather issue as it has dawned overcast and the forcast is for scattered showers for the day but I decided to live life on the wild side as we have not used the smoker since we purchased our new trailer last month (been camping every weekend). I figure if push comes to shove, I can always move the smoker under the awning on the trailer....

. As for a good bean recipe, I highly reccomend checking out Dutch's Wicked Baked Beans in the side dish section on the main page.

Since discovering this recipe, I will never cook beans from scratch again as the flavor is wonderful and the recipe pretty simple. In fact, I mixed a batch up last night and let it sit in the fridge overnight so all I had to do was throw it in today to accompany the pulled pork roast I have loaded in the smoker. Did not know if letting the flavors blend overnight would add to the flavor of the beans or not but hey....I am open to experimentation and figured it would not hurt. Let us know what you think of the beans and don't forget to show us some of your handiwork as the next best thing to smoking your own is seeing what others have been up to.

Welcome to the site from Jersey Mark.
Even if no smoke this weekend you could always do a quick dinner or just a quick smoke if you have a 2-3 hour window.
Most poultry takes about 3 hours, fatties and ABTs 2-3.
Glad you decided to join the site, you'll love it here.

Welcome to SMF. I grew up in southern Md. Moved from there 3 years ago.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I will post pics after the camera gets fixed or replaced. Haven't decided which way to go on that yet. It looks like some wicked beans today...Thanks again.
